At a whopping $166.37, "Strategic Management: Concepts and Cases (11th Edition)" is an overpriced course text whose contents do little to expand a student's marketing knowledge beyond the introductory level. Moreover, its pages are filled with verbose explanations and useless marketing jargon, which only serve to make following the concepts more difficult than necessary. I've also been told by my course instructor that there's virtually no difference between the 10th and 11th edition, thus making this textbook a prime example of how publishers are constantly exploiting students to try to combat the used book market. I may not be a marketing guru, but I'd say that's a rather lousy marketing plan!

So if you sign up for "MRK647 Management of Organizational Strategy and Marketing Plans" (also known as "MKT 2327"), I'd highly recommend that you skip purchasing the text. The course site will offer students a detailed synopsis of each chapter via PowerPoint presentation and any introductory marketing text will easily supplement the knowledge you have concerning the art of formulating a strategic business or marketing plan. Another cost effective alternative would be to simply visit http://www.sheridaninstitute.ca/~nowell/markplan/index.htm for all you need to know about creating an effective marketing plan.

In the end, the only use I could find for "Strategic Management: Concepts and Cases" was to act as my laptop stand.
